DECODING THE TRUTH ABOUT DEVELOPMENT

Dr. Janet Belsky, a psychologist, professor, and textbook author has spent her career describing the cutting edge research in human development. Janet’s sparking classroom lectures and storylike prose have captivated thousands of undergraduates over decades. Her textbooks in aging and lifespan development have been translated into several languages and are used at hundreds of universities around the world. She also is the author of the only book to survey the social science research in gerontology for a general audience.

How much do parents really matter, and can we predict adult personality from age two or three? What are some scientific keys to constructing a happy life, and how much do we change as people as we move through middle age into later life? What is really going on with millennials, and what exactly happens to memory as we age? From making sense of the teenage mind, to exploring the latest trends in end-of-life care, Janet’s passion is to dispel our myths about development by sharing the surprising (and often inspiring) scientific truth about human life.

Janet is available to lecture on a wide range of lifespan topics and write articles based on her unique expertise.  She is an accomplished speaker on aging issues, has been frequently interviewed for print publications and on the radio, and has appeared at media outlets such as the Today Show and CNN.   Janet has a Ph.D in clinical psychology from the University of Chicago. She currently lives in Chicago.
